JD Cymru Premier
Friday 2nd September (Ko 8pm)
Aberystwyth Town v Bala Town
JD Cymru Premier football returns to Ceredigion for the second time in 72 hours with Europa League qualifiers Bala Town in town for a September bonanza at Aberystwyth University Park Avenue.
Following Tuesday night's defeat, Aber sit in 11th plae with three points from the opening four fixtures. Our sole win thus far has come against Airbus on the opening day of the season although Tuesday night's performance offered much cause for optimism as Town created a number of chances and frustrated last season's run away champions for large periods of the game.
Bala Town come to Ceredigion only one point ahead of the Seasiders. After four games, they have a record of one win, one draw and two defeats. Their victory against Newtown in front of the Sgorio cameras last Friday saw the Lakesiders impress in a 3-0 victory. However, following a 1-0 reversal at Connah's Quay Nomads on Tuesday evening, the Lakesiders find themselves in a disappointing 8th place, although it's worth noting that the season is still young.
A very familiar face in the Bala Town lineup will be Chris Venables. Venners will go down in Black and Green folklore following two memorable spells donning the Aberystwyth Town colours. He found the back of the net 78 times during his time at Park Avenue and won a trio of golden boot awards whilst representing the club.
Another familiar face in the line up will be former Wales midfielder Dave Edwards. The ex-Shrewsbury man moved to Gwynedd last summer and has taken well to life in the JD Cymru Premier. Edwards was a part of the Chris Coleman's legendary Euro 2016 squad. He also doubles up his time as a pundit on Sky Sports.
Admission prices at Aberystwyth University Park Avenue Stadium this season are £8 for Adults, £5 for Concessions / Students, £2 for Secondary School age children and free entry for Primary School age children.
