Aberystwyth Town FC are sad to announce the resignation of Club Assistant Manager Wayne Jones with immediate effect.
Wayne joined the Black and Greens as Assistant Manager to Matthew Bishop in June 2016 and lead the Club to safety in the Welsh Premier League after Bishop's resignation in March 2017, initially alone and then with Tony Pennock. He then continued as Assistant to Neville Powell last season, which ended in a Welsh Cup Final last May.
Wayne said: "It is with deep regret that I hereby tender my resignation as Assistant Manager to Aberystwyth Town Football Club with immediate effect. I believe it is in the best interests of both the Club and myself that we part company.
I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank the Chairman Mr Donald Kane, Neville Evans (President) and the Board of Directors for my time spent at the Club, not to mention the Players, Club Staff and the great supporters! I feel I have worked extremely hard with different management staff during my time and have made good friendships that will stay with me forever.
It has been a great honour to work and represent such a great Club and a Club that I will be fond of during the remainder of my career. I sincerely wish you as a Club all the very best for the future. Yours sincerely, Wayne Jones (Wolvesey)".
A popular figure with Players and Supporters alike, Wayne's affable nature and unquestionable commitment to the cause, allied to a superb work ethic and an infectious enthusiasm means that he leaves the Club on the best of terms and with his professional reputation enhanced.
Club Chairman Donald Kane said: "It is with great regret that Aberystwyth Town FC accepts the resignation of Wayne Jones.
