JD Welsh Premier League Friday 17th November (8p.m Kick Off) Aberystwyth Town v Bala Town Aberystwyth Town will look to return to winning ways on Friday night as they welcome Bala Town to Park Avenue in the JD Welsh Premier League. After a narrow 3-2 defeat away at Bangor City last time out, Town will be pleased to be back in front of their home supporters for what is the first of three consecutive home games for Neville Powell’s side. Aber will be looking to continue to build on their improving home form after a well-earned 1-0 win over Cefn Druids in their last JD Welsh Premier League outing at Park Avenue. Manager Nev Powell spoke of his disappointment after Town’s defeat to Bangor 8 days ago, but urged the players and supporters alike to remain positive, stating “You can see the direction that we’re trying to go with this team now and the lads will get their heads up and work hard in training, and there’s no reason we can’t get another unbeaten run going again now because we’ve got a good squad of players”. Indeed, Aber’s manager will be looking for continued togetherness and consistency within his squad as they enter a crucial part of the season, with three games in three weeks coming up at Park Avenue. After facing Bala on Friday night, Town will host Mid-Wales rivals Newtown on November 24th before facing Bala yet again in the JD Welsh Cup on December 2nd. With three massive games on the horizon, Aber’s players and management will be looking for the support of a vocal Park Avenue crowd to spur them on to three big results. Bala Town travel to Park Avenue on Friday evening on the back of a five game unbeaten run, having picked up four victories and most recently a 1-1 draw at home to Connah’s Quay. In the reverse fixture earlier in the season, the game ended in a 1-1 draw as Jonny Spittle equalised on the stroke of half time after Nathan Burke had given the lakesiders the lead. Colin Caton’s squad features a number of former Black and Greens including Will Bell, Stuart Jones and former talisman Chris Venables. In what promises to be another exciting Friday night at Park Avenue, be sure to come down and support the boys towards another good result. To celebrate our renewed sponsorship with Aberystwyth University, the club are delighted to welcome University Staff and Students to Park Avenue with FREE entry for Friday night’s game. We are also pleased to confirm the attendance of Tarannau cheerleaders and a FREE Hot Dog for the first 100 fans into the ground. Kick off at Park Avenue is at 8p.m, you don’t want to miss out!
