Aberystwyth Town will look to continue their fine form at Park Avenue as they welcome Bala Town in the JD Welsh Premier League in front of the live Sgorio TV cameras on Saturday evening. Aber fell to a disappointing defeat away at league champions The New Saints on Tuesday evening, but have been in good form at home so far this season, winning two of their opening three JD Welsh Premier League fixtures. The black and greens currently lie 9th in the league table, and will be keen to get back on track with a positive result and performance against the lakesiders on Saturday evening.
Despite lying in 9th place in the league table, Aber lie just three points behind second placed Connah's Quay Nomads, and know that a positive result on Saturday evening could catapult them back into the top six once more. Both the seasiders' victories so far this season have come at Park Avenue, against Llandudno and Llanelli, and Director of Football Nev Powell has already emphasised the need for his side to demonstrate strong home form if they are to be successful this season. After Tuesday's defeat, Powell insisted Town's players must remain positive, stating; "We'll have to dust ourselves down and not be too down-hearted about tonight's defeat, we've got to look at the positives and go into Saturday's game and have a right go at Bala". Ahead of Saturday's game, Aber will undoubtedly take heart from last season's JD Welsh Cup third round performance in which they thumped the lakesiders 4-0 thanks to goals from Declan Walker, John Owen, Joe Phillips and Luke Borrelli, playing some fantastic football along the way. Saturday's visitors Bala Town have experienced a tumultuous start to their season, winning their three home games against Carmarthen, Llanelli and Cefn Druids, but losing both their away fixtures against Newtown and Barry. Colin Caton's side spent big in the summer, signing the likes of Henry Jones, Anthony Miley, Steven Tames and Danny Gossett, and will pose a major challenge to the seasiders at Park Avenue. Former black and greens Chris Venables and Stuart Jones also ply their trade at Maes Tegid, and were a part of Bala's JD Welsh Cup winning side in 2017. In what is sure to be an excellent game at Park Avenue, please note that kick off on Saturday evening is at 7:30p.m, and the game will be broadcast live on Sgorio (S4C) and Facebook Live (Sgorio Facebook Page). Admission costs £8 adults, £5 concessions and £2 for u16's - as Aber look to make Park Avenue a fortress once more, why not enjoy some local league football before heading down to cheer on the black and greens to a positive result Saturday evening!
