Friday 27th April (7:30p.m Kick Off) Aberystwyth Town v Newtown Aberystwyth Town will look to end their JD Welsh Premier League season in style as they host Newtown in the final league game of the season at Park Avenue on Friday evening. Town can still finish 9th in the league table, and will jump above Llandudno should they pick up all three points and the North-Walians fail to gain victory on Friday evening in the final round of league games this season. Aber mathematically secured their JD Welsh Premier League status last weekend as they relegated rivals Carmarthen Town with a 1-1 draw at Park Avenue, and assistant manager Wayne Jones emphasised his happiness with the side’s performance once more. Jones commented; “Overall we’re very pleased, and tactically we set up very well tonight - we had enough chances to take some of the pressure off ourselves and win the game.” Indeed, Town had midfielder Tom Owens to thank for securing a hard-earned point last weekend but will also be slightly rueful of the bad luck which saw them hit the post and go agonisingly close on three more occasions last Friday night. The seasiders’ attention now turns to Friday evening’s clash with Newtown; the side Aber recently beat to reach the JD Welsh Cup Final on a glorious day at Maes Tegid just three weeks ago. Chris Hughes’ side travel to Park Avenue having secured an 8th place finish in the league table and will again provide Aber with another difficult challenge at Park Avenue. The Robins most recently beat Prestatyn Town last weekend, and have lost just two of their last seven Jd Welsh Premier League games. The sides have already met four times this season, with Newtown running out comfortable victors back in September, but Aber have won the last three fixtures between the sides including that recent cup semi-final. In what is Aber’s final home game of the season, come on down and give the black and greens a big send off ahead of their massive cup final clash with Connah’s Quay on May 6th. Your support has been phenomenal yet again this season, and this fixture gives players and supporters alike a fantastic opportunity to thank each other for their efforts over the course of the season. Kick off on Friday evening at Park Avenue is at 7:30p.m, and admission costs £7 adults, £4 concessions and £1 children.
