Aberystwyth Town are back in action this Saturday with the Green Army still trying to come to terms with what they’ve seen over the past two weeks. Just when Aber’s loyal followers were thinking that Jonathan Evans’ incredible injury time bicycle kick against Flint couldn’t be matched, goalkeeper Matthew Turner went up for a 96th minute corner at Pontypridd last Saturday and prodded the ball home to gain a priceless Cymru Premier point and set off wild celebrations in the USW Sport Park stands.
 
That point lifts Aber up to 10th in the league table and with only 4 points separating 8th to 11th, every point matters at this stage of the season.
 
This week’s visitors to Aberystwyth University Park Avenue are Airbus UK Broughton, managed by former ATFC favourite Jamie Reed. Jamie had three different spells at Park Avenue and earned legendary status thanks to a hat-trick on his home debut in August 2007 against TNS, which helped the Black & Greens to a 5-1 victory over the reigning champions. He then returned for separate spells in 2014 and 2021, netting a number of important goals both times.
 
Phil Perry and Adam Davies have both also spent time in Black & Green. Phil spent the first half of this season at Park Avenue, making 16 appearances in all competitions before switching to Airbus in January. Adam also had a year long spell at Park Avenue between 2020 & 2021 before moving to The Airfield, where he had a record breaking season last year – hitting 30 goals to fire The Wingmakers to the Cymru North title.
 
This is the 4th meeting between the two clubs so far this season, with Aber victorious on the previous three occasions. Alex Darlington’s strike added to an earlier own goal on the opening night of the season, to give Aber a 2-1 victory back in August at The Airfield, before that scoreline was repeated in September at Park Avenue thanks to goals from Louis Bradford and Iwan Lewis. ATFC’s best ever Cymru Premier result was then equalled in February as Anthony Williams side triumphed 7-1 at The Airfield.
 
Admission prices at Aberystwyth University Park Avenue Stadium this season are £8 for Adults, £5 for Concessions / Students, £2 for Secondary School age children and free entry for Primary School age children.
