JD Cymru Premier
Saturday 21st January (KO 5.15pm) Aberystwyth Town vs Caernarfon Town Aberystwyth Town round off the first phase of this season’s Cymru Premier this Saturday evening with the visit of Caernarfon Town. Bolstered by an influx of new additions, Anthony Williams’ team will be looking to pick up all three points to start the climb up the Cymru Premier table, having only picked up 4 points from the last 8 matches – a run of form that is mirrored by that of Saturday’s visitors, although Caernarfon do come into the game on the back of a win having beaten Airbus UK Broughton 3-0 away two weekends ago. This result leaves the Canaries in 7th position going into Saturday’s match, having amassed 25 points thanks to 8 wins and 1 draw in their 21 matches so far this season. Like the Black and Greens, Caernarfon had a free week last weekend due to them not being involved in the Welsh Cup. Having last weekend off from match action will have given Aber new boys Jake Canavan, Billy Kirkman, Matthew Turner and Liam Walsh chance to settle into the squad having made their first appearances during the preceding week, whilst Mark Cadwallader will be looking forward to potentially making his debut in Black and Green on Saturday. Caernarfon boss Huw Griffiths has also been active since the opening of the transfer window, securing the services of Cai Powell Roberts from Llangefni Town and Rhys Alun Williams from Porthmadog and both new signings made their first appearances in the win at Airbus. There will be familiar faces in the Canaries line up too, with Ben Wynne making his first return to Aberystwyth University following an impressive four months in Ceredigion at the start of 2022. Playing alongside Ben will be Darren Thomas, who signed for Aber from Caernarfon back in 2015 during Ian Hughes’ tenure and had a six month spell in Black & Green before returning to The Oval, where he continues to hit the net on a regular basis, having hit 5 goals already this season – a tally bettered only by Fidel O’Rourke who has 7 goals to his name. Due to an pre-booked engagement arranged prior to the change of kick off time, the John Charles Lounge will be closed to the general public from half time tomorrow, and after the match. Aberystwyth Town FC apologises for any inconvenience this may cause. Admission prices at Aberystwyth University Park Avenue Stadium this season are £8 for Adults, £5 for Concessions / Students, £2 for Secondary School age children and free entry for Primary School age children. Come and join us as the Seasiders look to round off Phase One in style! Comments are closed.
