Gem Gyfeillgar/Pre Season Friendly Mawrth/Tuesday 11 Gorffenaf/July Tref Aberystwyth Town 0 Llanelli 0 Dechreuodd Tref Aberystwyth eu hymyrch haf gyda gem gyfartal solet ddi sgor, gartref i gochion Llanelli fydd yn edrych i ddyrchafu o Gynghrair y Cymru South y tymor yma. Er fod goliau yn brin, perfformiad digon calonogol cafwyd gan tim y Gwyrdd a’r Duon oedd yn cynnwys nifer o dreialwyr. Aberystwyth Town started pre season off with a solid 0-0 draw at home to Cymru South promotion hopefuls Llanelli, and although goals were hard to come by, it was an encouraging performance by a Black and Green side containing a number of trialists. Anthony Williams’ starting eleven for Town’s first match since the now legendary 3-2 win over Caernarfon back in April included familiar faces Liam Walsh, Iwan Lewis, Jack Thorn and Mark Cadwallader, new signings Dave Jones in goal, Akeem Hinds and Beau Cornish, plus four trialists. Kick off was delayed until 7.45 but Town started in a promising manner and created the first chance when tidy play between Cornish, Cadwallader and a trialist set the latter up for a shot on goal which was well saved by the visiting keeper. Another Town trialist fired two shots wide, Iwan Lewis went close and just before the break Cornish latched onto Cadwallader’s pass and flashed an effort over the bar as the game remained scoreless at the break. Jones, Lewis, Cadwallader and three trialists were replaced by new signing Calum Huxley and five other trialists at the break with Williams getting a good look at each member of his squad options for the forthcoming season. Despite the high turnover Aber continued to make chances and the best of these came as a corner fell to a trialist whose effort was saved from close range before a follow up was also blocked. As the game ran to its conclusion Aber enjoyed most of the ball but couldn’t find the final touch, and an entertaining game ended 0-0. Drama is almost guaranteed as a given at Park Avenue however, and at the conclusion of the game a penalty shoot out was agreed between both sides - which the visitors won 5-4 to bring a good run out to an end. Aber’s pre season continues on Saturday with a 1pm kick off at home to the Seasiders’ Cymru Premier rivals Cardiff Met. Will this one go to penalties too? There’s only one way to find out. See you there! Comments are closed.
