Aber Town kept a clean sheet for a third consecutive pre season friendly, and scored three goals of their own to complete a solid victory over near neighbours Bow Street, who had an excellent season in finishing third in last year’s Adran North East League.
Anthony Williams’ men lined up with Dave Jones in goal, Liam Walsh, Louis Bradford, Akeem Hines, and a trialist in defence, Archie Bales, Iwan Lewis, Jack Thorn and Owen Taylor in midfield, and John Owen and a second trialist up front: and the Black and Greens found the net within seven minutes of the kick off, when Walsh popped up on the edge of the area and fired a low shot into the bottom left corner. A tough, physical contest ensued but the visitors were kept at arm’s length by a well organised home defence, and Aber were good value for their half time lead.
Into the second half and Beau Cornish replaced Walsh, and Town continued to press. Alex Darlington and Steff Davies were next on to bag some valuable pre season minutes, then two further goals came as a trialist lashed the ball into the roof of the net from a throw routine, and the Black and Greens’ second trialist picked up a through ball and struck home from ten yards to secure the victory. Two Under 19s players made their First Team debuts: Rhys Jenkins in defence and Tom Mason up front; and a decent run out ended with a three goal victory for the Seasiders.
So Aber’s last home friendly prior to the Big Cymru Premier kick off on Saturday 12th August, at home to Cardiff Met (ko 2.30pm) ended with a pleasing win. Two away games follow, away to City of Liverpool FC and away to Barry Town United in the Nathaniel MG Cup Second Round on Saturday August 5th (ko 2.30pm). Cymru Football is back!
