Aber Town Women fell to a 3-0 defeat at The Rock against Wrexham, despite another positive performance in Phase Two

The Seasiders had the first real chance of the game. Good pressing from Lleucu Mathias meant she was able to dispossess Wrexham goalkeeper Del Morgan in the middle of hosts’ half, before Modlen Gwynne’s effort towards goal was blocked on the line. Wrexham took the lead in the 10th minute of the game, arguably against the run of the play up until that point. A free kick by TJ Dickens from the right went all the way into the back of the net, putting the hosts ahead. The Red Dragons doubled their lead nine minutes later. A ball into the area couldn’t be dealt with, before it was tapped home by Amber Lightfoot to put Wrexham two ahead going into the break.
 
Despite a bright start to the second half from Aber, Wrexham added a third in the 58th minute. Rebecca Pritchard found space down the right and launched a shot past Farnes to put the hosts in control. Lleucu Mathias had a golden opportunity just after the third. A good one-two between herself and Amy Jenkins led to a one-on-one, which was well saved by Morgan, and Wrexham saw the game for the win. Aber face Swansea next in the Genero Adran Premier on Wednesday, at Llandarcy Academy Of Sport (KO 7.45pm).
 
Assistant Manager Josh Jones said after the game: “I thought we played well for periods. A few errors leading to the goals which is frustrating. We got into areas where we could score but it just didn’t drop.”
 
On Magi Rowlands making her debut: “She was really good. She was patient and got the opportunity. I thought for the 20 minutes she played she was exceptional.”
