Bish: "We're still a Good Team and We've Got to Move On"

Aber suffered back to back defeats for the first time this season following a 4-0 reverse at Bangor City yesterday. Despite starting well, Town went down against an impressive Bangor outfit that now sit second in the league having only lost once this term. Manager Matthew Bishop was in a philosophical mood in conversation with Aber Town's Youtiube Channel after the game: 

“I’m disappointed and the players are disappointed. Losing by four goals is tough to take. I thought we started well today but when they scored, it deflated the players a bit and the energy levels went down and they’ve scored a second soon after. Unfortunately we’ve picked up two injuries with [Luke] Sherborn hurting his groin and [Joe] Clarke hurting his knee. It’s not been a good day.” Manager Matthew Bishop explained following the game.

Bangor City, who’ve seen a summer of change both on and off the field this summer, looked strong from the offset and will be delighted with their strong start to the season. With City looking likely to finish near the top of the table, Bishop insists his players must erase the game from their minds.

“I’ve told the players in the dressing room not to beat themselves up. Yes we’re disappointed, yes they don’t like conceding goals but we need to move on to the next one and they need to learn from this today.”
The Bangor University Stadium was subjected to a deluge of wind and rain with much credit going to the Citzens ground staff for getting the game ahead. But despite this, Bishop refuses to attest the result to the weather conditions

“The conditions were dreadful but the pitch held up well. We can’t use that as an excuse. We were lacklustre in the final third. We’ve got to find a way to put away these chances we are creating.“

After two defeats in a tough schedule for the Seasiders, the boss remains upbeat ahead of Wednesday’s game at Penrhyncoch.

“We’re still a good team and they’ve proved today that they’re a good team. We know about Jamie Reed and Henry Jones have been excellent for them today. We’ve got to move on.”
