Dafabet Welsh Premier League
Saturday 23rd April (ko 5.15pm) Aberystwyth Town v Bangor City Aberystwyth Town First Team's last ever game on the green turf of Park Avenue on Saturday evening is a must win game if the Black and Greens wish to keep their unlikely European dream alive. Nothing less than three points at home to Bangor City will guarantee 8th place for Aber, who will then sneak into the Play Offs if Airbus beat TNS in the Welsh Cup Final on May 2nd. Last Saturday's 94th minute defeat at Carmarthen was a gut wrenching blow to Interim Manager Wyn Thomas' side, and they know they will have to up their game on Saturday if they are to have any chance of prolonging the season. However they do have a good record against the Citizens this season, having won 3-2 at Bangor in September, 4-0 at Park Avenue in December and drawn 0-0 back up at Nantporth in February. Aber have no suspensions and their only injury worry Luke Sherbon is approaching match fitness. Seventeen goal Chris Venables will be looking for more as he chases a third successive WPL Golden Boot, while Craig Williams will be attempting to improve on his record as the WPL's joint Best Assister, with ten. Bangor meanwhile have Steve Lewis suspended. The game also marks Manager Ian Hughes' last game in charge following his resignation in the week and we are sure supporters will wish to take the opportunity to show their appreciation for a memorable and exciting three seasons in charge. The Main Event will be preceded by a free Family Fun Day from 2pm, and admission to the game is also free courtesy of Club Sponsors Cambrian Tyres. It's never dull at Park Avenue - we'll see you there for Kick off! Comments are closed.
