Tref Aberystwyth Town v Tref Bala Town
Ar ol buddugoliaethau oddi cartref cefn wrth gefn, dychwela tim Anthony Williams i Stadiwm Prifysgol Aberystwyth Coedlan y Parc brynhawn Sadwrn, i wynebu Tref y Bala mewn gem yn Nhrydedd Rownd Cwpan Cymru.
After back-to-back victories on the road, Anthony Williams and his team return home to Aberystwyth University Park Avenue on Saturday afternoon for a Welsh Cup tie against fellow JD Cymru Premier side Bala Town.
The two successive victories in South Wales have lifted Aber to 11th in the table and within touching distance of 9th place. Attention now turns to the Cup, which holds plenty of good memories for both sets of fans in recent years.
Bala reached last years final, but were beaten by a rampant The New Saints team. They also lifted the Cup back in 2017. Aber have of course reached the final on no less than three occasions in the last 15 years, the most recent being in 2018.
To get to this stage, the Black & Greens beat JD Cymru South outfit Pontardawe Town back on 14th October, with a 95th minute winner from Steff Davies. The previous evening, Bala beat Llandudno of the JD Cymru North to book their spot in Round Three.
In the league, Colin Caton’s side currently sit in 6th place, with 5 wins and 6 draws from 15 games. They come into this match having one won, drawn two and lost one game since their last cup outing. George Newell is the Lakesiders top scorer this season with three goals, whilst Naim Arsan and former Aber midfielder Paulo Mendes have two apiece.
There has already been one meeting between these two teams this season, with Aber triumphing 1-0 at Maes Tegid back in September, thanks to Jon Owen’s first half strike.
Admission prices at Aberystwyth University Park Avenue for this season are set at £8 for adults, £5 for concessions, £2 for Secondary School age kids, and Primary School and younger are free. Please note that this cup match is NOT covered under season tickets. The Welsh Cup journey continues!!
