Dafabet Welsh Premier League
Friday 18th September (ko 7.45pm) Carmarthen Town v Aberystwyth Town Aberystwyth Town look to bounce back from a disappointing couple of results in the Dafabet Welsh Premier League when they travel to Richmond Park on Friday evening to face local rivals Carmarthen Town. Consecutive defeats away to Port Talbot, and then last week at home to Airbus have seen the Black and Greens slip down the table, so there is no better place to mount a comeback than at their neighbours ground, where Aber won 3-1 last season on Boxing Day, before beating the Old Gold at home a week later by 5 goals to 3 to clinch a Top Six spot. If Aber are to repeat the trick and make the Top Six again this time round results need to improve, and Manager Ian Hughes was at least encouraged by Town's performance last week in defeat. A couple of contentious decisions went against the Black and Greens that day, having a major impact on the outcome of the game, and let it not be forgot that Aber performed superbly eight days ago to steamroller Goytre United in the Word Cup. Rhys Griffiths is getting ever closer to full fitness and if he is available in two days time Hughes will have a full squad to choose from for the first time this season. Carmarthen, after a shaky start of their own, have shown Aber the way by rallying strongly, and their 2-1 win at Bangor last week took the Richmond Park Men to fifth in the table, so another difficult obstacle awaits the Black and Greens. This game always attracts a sizeable contingent of travelling supporters from Ceredigion, and Your Coach leaves Park Avenue at 4.45pm on Friday for a 7.45pm kick off. It will cost you no more than £10. Bring the Noise and Support the Boys! Comments are closed.
