JD Welsh Premier League
Friday 5th October (7:45p.m Kick Off) Cefn Druids v Aberystwyth Town Aberystwyth Town will look to get back to winning ways as they travel to face last season's Europa League Play-Off Winners Cefn Druids at The Rock on Friday evening. Aber fell to a disappointing home defeat at the hands of Barry Town United last Saturday afternoon, but showed their mettle in their last away JD Welsh Premier League fixture as they came from two goals down to salvage a 2-2 draw at Carmarthen. Neville Powell, who was re-announced as the club's first team manager earlier this week, was disappointed with his side's defeat to Barry last weekend, but insisted that his players must move on quickly and focus on getting back to winning ways at The Rock Friday evening. "It was a difficult afternoon for us", said Powell after Saturday's defeat, "there were too many loose passes and too much slack marking today, but October is going to be a defining month for us and we've told the players that we've got to move on to the next game quickly". The seasiders have already shown their character and determination on more than one occasion this season, bouncing back to beat Bala Town after a heavy defeat at The New Saints, and beating Llanelli Town at home after losing away at Connah's Quay Nomads. They'll need to stick together and show their unity once more this weekend as they aim to avoid back to back JD Welsh Premier League defeats. Wingman Ryan Edwards is hopeful of being fit for Friday's clash despite picking up a hamstring injury during last weekend's defeat, whilst Joe Phillips and Geoff Kellaway will be pushing for places in the starting eleven once more. Friday's hosts Cefn Druids have endured a difficult start to their JD Welsh Premier League campaign, picking up just 7 points from their opening 8 games and currently lying 11th in the league table. The Ancients won the Europa League Play-Off Final last season, beating Cardiff Met at The Rock to secure a two-legged tie against FK Trakai in July. Huw Griffiths' side are always strong at The Rock, and came out on top in this fixture last season with a 2-0 victory. In what is sure to be a difficult test for the black and greens, kick off at The Rock is at 7:45p.m, and Cefn Druids address is listed as Rock Road, Cefn Mawr, Wrexham, LL14 3YF. The seasiders will be aiming to keep pace with the top six as they look for another positive result in the JD Welsh Premier League. Comments are closed.
