Aberystwyth Town FC can announce that Club Director of Football Neville Powell has left his post by mutual agreement.
Nev joined the Club in June 2017 and after a difficult start lead the Black and Greens to Welsh Premier League safety and a Welsh Cup Final in his first season at Park Avenue. Aber’s Welsh Cup Semi Final win over Newtown at Bala by two goals to one, in front of a huge Green Army following, will live long in the memory. In his second season an incredible five match winning run in October and November took Aber to the brink of the Top Six, with Powell winning the Manager of the Month award for November 2018. This run included famous victories over TNS at home, and last minute 3-2 wins at Cardiff Met and Bala Town which left the Green Army delirious.
This season Nev has been a big part of an expanded Management Team which lead the Club to the Semi Finals of the Nathaniel MG Cup, and has helped Aber Town recruit a number of key players both in the summer and in the recent transfer window.
Powell said: “I would like to say how much I enjoyed my time at Aber. I met a lot of special people and I’d like to thank everyone at the Club, including the volunteers, the Directors and of course the Players and Supporters, who been magnificent in my time there. I hope I have left the Club in a better position than when I started and hopefully can kick on from here. I wish everyone at Aber Town Football Club all the best for the future.”
Club Chairman Donald Kane said: “On behalf of the Club I would like to place on record our thanks to Nev for sharing with us his incredible experience, his determination and dedication to the Black and Green cause over the past two and a half years. The great times we shared with Nev mean he will always be welcomed back at Park Avenue, and we wish him all the best for the future.“
