Everyone at Aberystwyth Town is delighted and excited by Academy Product Tom Bradshaw's inclusion in the Welsh Squad to face the Netherlands at the Cardiff City Stadium next Friday night, and we extend our congratulations to Tom on this major achievement in his career. Welsh Manager Chris Coleman feels that the inclusion of Bradshaw shows that there is an opportunity for Dafabet WPL Players to progress to the National Squad, as he explained to FAW TV: "It's good for the Welsh Premier League: there is a pathway and if (the Players) are good enough and work hard, like Tom has, then you never know. I'm happy about (his inclusion), happy for Aberystwyth where he started. It's good for Tom, he has earned his opportunity." Watch the full interview with Chris Coleman on FAW TV here. Centre forward Tom, who wears the Number 9 short for Walsall is currently enjoying his best ever season having scored 23 goals from 45 appearances for the Saddlers, and he was named on standby for Wales' Senior Squad last October. Shrewsbury-born Tom was a part of Aberystwyth Town's Academy for a number of years while his family were living in Tywyn, and he made his debut for the Black and Greens in 2009, scoring 2 goals in four games and coming on as a substitute in the 2009 Welsh Cup Final. Bradshaw then moved to Shrewsbury Town, scoring 17 goals in 89 appearances over 5 years before his move to the Bescot Stadium in the summer of 2014. Dutch defenders should take note of Tom's habit of scoring debut goals. Having completed five years of education in Wales Tom played for Wales' Under 19s and Under 21s side - and he scored on his debut for both, as he did at Shrewsbury and Walsall. In fact the Black and Greens are the only side Tom failed to score for on his debut! Comments are closed.
