Aber Look To Keep the Momentum Going at Newtown on Saturday

With three wins from their last four games Aberystwyth Town look to keep their positive momentum going at Latham Park on Friday afternoon, as they take on local rivals Newtown for the second time in five days.

Kurtis March's 89th minute winner at home to Newtown on Boxing Day was a goal of huge importance and thrilled another bumper Park Avenue crowd. March was rewarded by being named in Sgorio's 5-a-side team for the week, but the win was gained on a solid defensive foundation, and if Town can replicate their strong performance in two days time they will have a good chance of a positive result.

Results elsewhere went Aber's way on Boxing Day with Carmarthen and Llandudno dropping points, meaning Aber go sixth if they win their game in hand. In fact as Carmarthen and Cardiff Met face each other on Saturday seven points from the Black and Greens' last three games will be enough to secure a Top Six spot.

A good week for Aber got even better yesterday as top scorer Like Borrelli signing an 18 month contract with the Club, so the future is looking promising for the Black and Greens.

Hosts Newtown will be keen to gain early revenge on Saturday and Chris Hughes' talented side did create some good chances in the return fixture - but for Aber Manager Matthew Bishop, the final three games before the split are all about Aber and how they perform. "The boys are desperate to get into that Top 6. It’s in our hands. If we get the results we want, then we’ll be in there”  he told Aber Town's Youtube Channel after Monday's game.
