Aberystwyth Town is delighted to announce that Jonathan Evans has signed a one year contract extension which sees him commit to the Black and Greens until the end of the 2022/23 season. 29 year old Evans becomes the third man to confirm his place in Anthony Williams’ squad following the news that last year’s top scorer Sam Phillips and Steff Davies are remaining in Ceredigion bay for the upcoming campaign. Evans, now in his third spell at Aberystwyth University Park Avenue, began his career in the club’s academy where he was spotted by the scouts of Cardiff City Football Club. Whilst there, he represented Wales Schoolboys and Under 16’s side, competing in the Victory Shield for his country. Following a spell in the youth ranks at the Bluebirds, the popular winger spent time at Accrington Stanley before returning to Ceredigion. Evans’ time at Aberystwyth Town has been sandwiched between spells at JD Cymru North outfit Penrhyncoch. Over the course of his time in Aber colours, the former Rooster has amassed a number of highlights including scoring a last minute winner away at Llandudno, grabbing a brace against Haverfordwest County as well as notching the goal that secured the Black and Greens the bragging rights in last season’s Mid-Wales derby against Newtown at Latham Park. On his resigning, Evans told atfc.org.uk, “Within 30 seconds of speaking with the manager, my mind was made up. He spoke very well and made up my mind for me.” “As a local player, I feel I have a duty to stay and fight with my team to get Aber the best placing possible. I can’t wait to get going and see some fresh faces in the squad.” Comments are closed.
