Flint Town United vs Aberystwyth Town JD Cymru Premier Saturday 11th February (KO 2.30pm) Phase 2 of the 2022/23 JD Cymru Premier kicks off tomorrow and Aber Town face a trip north to face Flint Town United. It will be a different looking Aber Town from the team that took to the field at the start of Phase 1, with Jake Canavan, Billy Kirkman, Matthew Turner, Mark Cadwallader and Liam Walsh all having joined in January, whilst Lewis Webb, Jack Rimmer, Jamie Jones, Phillip Perry, Ben Erickson and Sam Phillips all departed for pastures new during the window. Flint have also been active in the transfer market, bringing in Callum Huxley, Rhys Kavanagh and Zack Clarke, who netted a hat-trick on his debut against Pontypridd. The Silkmen ended Phase 1 in 9th position, with 6 wins and 24 points from 22 games – a similar return to Aber’s 7 wins and 22 points, which finds the Black & Greens a place below Saturday’s hosts in the live table. Their top scorer this season is Okera Simmonds, who has netted 4 times, whilst Jean-Louis Akpa-Akpro, Harry Owen, Zack Clarke have 3 goals each to their name. Both teams come into Phase 2 on the back of a positive result – Aber beating Caernarfon 2-1 at Park Avenue on January 21st whilst Flint triumphed 4-1 at home to Pontypridd United. This will be the third meeting between these two teams so far this season; Aber won the first meeting 2-1 back in October thanks to a late Niall Flint penalty, whilst the return match at Cae Y Castell ended 1-1 in early January – a 72nd minute Harry Owen goal cancelling out Jonathan Evans’ superb first half volley. Flint’s website offers the following advice on travel to The Essity Stadium. The stadium sits on the banks of the Dee Estuary, a short walk away from Flint Castle. You’ll find a car park near the RNLI Lifeboat Station. Once that fills up, we ask you to be respectful about where you park. Try to consider those living locally and avoid blocking any driveways, streets or access roads. If you can, come on foot or on the train. It’ll make your journey home easier and give you some eco-credentials too. The postcode for your sat-nav is CH6 5PJ and tickets are priced at £8 for Adults, £5 for Seniors, £2 for Juniors and U11’s are free. Green Army … the push for the playoffs starts here!!
