 Pre Season Friendly
Tuesday 9th July (KO 7.30pm) Aberystwyth Town v Llanidloes Town Aberystwyth Town kick off their pre season schedule for 2019 on Tuesday evening with a home friendly against Mid Wales rivals Llanidloes Town, last season’s Mid Wales League runners up. Until the late 1980s The Daffs were major rivals to the Black and Greens in the Mid Wales League, and also enjoyed one season in the League of Wales’ first iteration in 1992. Llani have not returned to that level since but were so unlucky to miss out on promotion to the FAW Championship (North) last season, narrowly missing out to Llanfair United on the last day of the season. Aberystwyth Town improved in 2018/9 to finish the season in eighth, missing out on UEFA Europa League Play Off spot by just one place. The majority of last season’s squad has been retained, with Ben Birch from Tividale and Alex Boss from Bangor being added to the roster, along with previous favourites such as Rio Ahmadi, Malcolm Melvin and Joe Phillips. This will be Town’s first run of out 2019/20, and will be swiftly followed by another home friendly on Saturday at home to Llantwit Major. The Daffs started their pre-season schedule with a 4-0 defeat at Newtown on Friday. Aber’s loyal fans will be intrigued to see how their team is shaping up for the season’s big kick off in mid August, and admission for Adults on Tuesday night will be £5, with a 7.30pm kick off.
