Aberystwyth Town FC are delighted to confirm that Geoff Kellaway and Jack Rimmer will remain at Park Avenue for the forthcoming season. Flying winger Kellaway was again a key player for Aber last year, excelling in a vital game at home to Bangor City back in December when his thrilling pace turned the game in the Black and Greens favour and helped them to a 4-0 win. Highly rated Rimmer, who tuned 17 in March, made his debut in front of the TV Cameras at Llandudno last August, going on to make nine Dafabet WPL appearances, and scoring an amazing match winning goal from the right hand touchline at Haverfordwest on Boxing Day. Fans favourite Kellaway, whose blistering pace strikes fear into hearts of opposing Managers and defenders throughout the WPL, was named on the bench in the 2014/5 Team of the Season, and won the prestigious Aberystwyth Town First Team Supporters Player of the Season at the Club Dinner in June 2015. Geoff began his career with Aberystwyth Town, making his debut during the 2003/04 season. He went on to make 141 appearances for the club, scoring 32 goals, and featured in the 2009 Welsh Cup final defeat to Bangor City. In May 2010, having been named in the 2009/10 Welsh Premier League team of the season, Kellaway joined Dandenong Thunder along with fellow Welsh Premier players Luke Sherbon and Jamie Reed. In August 2010, he was signed to a three month injury replacement contract with A-League side Melbourne Victory. He made his debut for the club as a substitute during a 2-2 draw with North Queensland Fury, becoming the 500th player to make an appearance in the A-League. He was released by the Victory and returned to Britain at the end of the 2010/11 season. In July 2011, he re-joined Aberystwyth Town and after one more season at Park Avenue, in June 2012 he moved to Llanelli, where he made his debut in the Europa League versus Kups in Finland. Geoff then moved to Carmarthen Town in January 2013 before returning to Park Avenue the following summer, where he has remained since, playing in the Welsh Cup Final of 2013/4, and the UEFA Europa League and Europa League Play Off Final in 2014/5. Since making his debut for the Black and Greens in 2003/4 Geoff has played 223 WPL games for Aberystwyth Town, scoring 55 goals, and he passed the 250 game milestone overall as Aber beat Bangor in April 2016. Academy Product Jack Rimmer joined the First Team Squad for 2015/16. Jack is a Sixth Former at Ysgol Gyfun Penweddig and has an impeccable sporting background, having been invited to join Liverpool's Academy at age 10, Birmingham City's Academy at 11, and having trials at Stoke City at 14. He started playing for Padarn United before joining the very successful Aber United team, winning the Ian Rush Super Cup Under 11 age group in 2009, and finishing as runners up in 2010. Jack represented Central Wales in the Cymru Cup of 2013 and the Welsh National/Regional Development Squads in 2012 and 2013. He has also played for Penweddig and Ceredigion Schools throughout his School Years, and played for Central Wales Boys 2014 and again in 2015 where Jack captained the side. Jack, a Centre Back or Midfielder by trade, has been with Bow Street since 2011 but importantly has also been part of Aberystwyth Town's Academy sides from the Under 12 Age Group onwards and was in the side that reached the Welsh Final in 2012. He is also an accomplished golfer, as part of the Dyfed team that won Welsh schools championship 2014, and has represented Ceredigion Schools Athletics Squads several times in the 100m and 400m sprints. He has made one WPL start and 8 sub appearances, scoring once to date. With Chris Venables and Luke Sherbon remaining on contract, four players arriving from Haverfordwest County this week and more signings likely to be announced over the weekend, Matthew Bishop's new look squad is starting to take shape ahead of their return to training on Saturday afternoon. Meanwhile the Club can confirm the departure of midfielder and First Team Coach Antonio Corbisiero, who leaves the Club after 3 1/2 years service. He represented the Club in the 2014 Welsh Cup Final and UEFA Europa League, and was part of the side which finished fourth in 2014/5. Overall Antonio made 92 WPL appearances for the Black and Greens, scoring once, contributing to an overall WPL total of 308 games and 16 goals. The Club thanks him for his excellent service and wishes him all the best for the future. Comments are closed.
