Aberystwyth Town is delighted to announce that fan favourite Geoff Kellaway, who played his 250th game for Town at the end of last season, has committed to remain at Park Avenue for the forthcoming season, 2017/18. Kellaway, whose blistering pace strikes fear into hearts of opposing Managers and defenders throughout the WPL, scored an impressive eight goals from 27 appearances last season including a remarkable hat trick at Carmarthen in September, and his addition to the Squad is a major boost to the Black and Greens hopes for the forthcoming season. Prior to last season Geoff was a major part of a Black and Greens attack force which notched over 140 goals between 2014-6, and his excellent form of 2014/5 did not go unnoticed. In April Sgorio confirmed that Geoff was joint top of the WPL Assist Table with 12, to add to his 10 Goals from 29 WPL games. His third goal in a hat trick at Bala, an audacious lob from outside the area, was nominated for Goal of the Month for March. Geoff was named on the bench in the WPL Team of the Season, and won the prestigious Aberystwyth Town First Team Supporters' Player of the Season at the Club Dinner in June 2015. Geoff began his career with Aberystwyth Town, making his debut during the 2003/04 season. He went on to make 141 appearances for the club, scoring 32 goals, and featured in the 2009 Welsh Cup final defeat to Bangor City. In May 2010, having been named in the 2009/10 Welsh Premier League team of the season, Kellaway joined Dandenong Thunder along with fellow Welsh Premier players Luke Sherbon and Jamie Reed. In August 2010, he was signed to a three month injury replacement contract with A-League side Melbourne Victory. He made his debut for the club as a substitute during a 2-2 draw with North Queensland Fury, becoming the 500th player to make an appearance in the A-League. He was released by the Victory and returned to Britain at the end of the 2010/11 season. In July 2011, he re-joined Aberystwyth Town and after one more season at Park Avenue, in June 2012 he moved to Llanelli, where he made his debut in the Europa League versus Kups in Finland. Geoff then moved to Carmarthen Town in January 2013 before returning to Park Avenue the following summer, where he has remained since, playing in the Welsh Cup Final of 2014/5, and the UEFA Europa League and Europa League Play Off Final in 2015. Since making his debut for the Black and Greens in 2003/4 Geoff has played 250 WPL games for Aberystwyth Town, scoring 63 goals. Everyone at Park Avenue congratulates Geoff on reaching 250 games in Black and Green and we all look forward to more exploits in the season to come. Photo courtesy of Colin Ewart Comments are closed.
