Haverfordwest County vs Aberystwyth Town
JD Cymru Premier Saturday 15th April (KO 5.15pm) – Live on S4C & Online The penultimate weekend of the season takes Aberystwyth Town to Pembrokeshire and an encounter with 7th placed Haverfordwest County, who secured their place in the end of season playoffs last weekend with a 2-0 victory over Pontypridd United. The positions immediately below the Bluebirds are very much still to be decided however, with the still to be rearranged game between Flint Town United and Caernarfon Town further adding to the intrigue as there is very little to separate four clubs, including Aber Town. Anthony Williams side come into this match unbeaten in four though and with late goals becoming a Seasiders trademark of late, the one thing that you are guaranteed with the Black and Greens is drama! Saturday’s hosts are also in good form and are unbeaten in their last 5 matches, winning 4 of those. This will be the fourth meeting between the two clubs so far this season. The Bluebirds have been victorious on two occasions; 3-1 at Bridge Meadow in December and 1-0 at Park Avenue last month, whilst Aber won the first meeting at Park Avenue back in October 2-1, despite a late red card. Haverfordwest are not short of firepower with Jordan Davies, Ben Fawcett and Jack Wilson leading the line. Davies has netted 12 times already this season, whilst Fawcett and Wilson have 6 goals and 5 goals respectively. As usual in the fixture, a number of the opposition will be familiar to the Green Army. Bluebirds Manager Tony Pennock had a brief spell at Park Avenue in 2017, helping to steer the club to safety during his tenure. Lee Jenkins swapped Ceredigion for Pembrokeshire last summer, having come through the ranks at Aber Town to go on to become a reliable member of the back four and a fan favourite. Jamie Veale followed the same path after spending two seasons in Black and Green, netting a number of memorable goals in that time, whilst Ricky Watts and Dylan Rees both had brief spells at the club earlier in their careers. This match will also be shown live on Sgorio on S4C and online with the programme starting at 5pm. You can’t beat being there in person however and Bridge Meadow can be found by using Postcode SA61 2EX and tickets are priced at £7.50 for Adults / £5 for Concessions / Under 16’s free.
