Aber produced the complete performance on Friday night, writes Club Media Assistant Matthew Wallace. Three goals, three different scorers and more importantly a clean sheet, a feat that has eluded Town since December 2014, made it a fantastic evening for all involved at the club. “The clean sheet is the important thing tonight. Not keeping a clean sheet in so long, the players were aware of that and it had been something that was on their minds. It’s something that we have worked on in training with Wyn Thomas. He deserves praise for that,” boss Ian Hughes told atfc.org.uk. Goals from Jamie Reed, Darren Thomas and Chris Venables ensured a rather one sided scoreline despite the game being a close one until the 70th minute. But despite the game being close, Carmarthen were frustrated by a superb rear guard performance from the Aber defence. “The team as a whole deserve great credit. Tonight we stopped people taking shots at our goalkeeper and we defended very well as a unit. Except for a couple of crosses and a header over the bar, I don’t remember Mike [Lewis] having much to do”. Aber will be looking to build on the momentum generated from this game as they host Bala Town on Tuesday night in front of a new wave of supporters as the game incorporates the University’s Freshers Week. “It’s only one win. We’ve got a big game against Bala on Tuesday and hopefully we can get the supporters down in force because their support does make a big difference to the side.” Watch Matthew Wallace's post match interviews with Manager Ian Hughes and Mike Lewis on Aber Town's Youtube Channel here. Aberystwyth Town's home match at home to League Leaders Bala Town takes place at Park Avenue on Tuesday evening with a 7.45pm Kick Off. Admission will cost £6 for Adults, £4 Concessions and £1 for Children. Comments are closed.
