Dafabet Welsh Premier League Friday 6th November (kick off 7.30pm) Rhyl v Aberystwyth Town Aberystwyth Town will be glad to get back on the road on Friday night after two disappointing home results momentarily stalled the excellent momentum the team had created in a seven game unbeaten run, and Manager Ian Hughes will be looking for a positive response as the Black and Greens visit Belle Vue, home of Rhyl FC. Aber have the second best away record in the Dafabet WPL having won four and drawn one of their last five matches away from Park Avenue, and they will have to be on top form again on Friday night to extend that run. Opponents Rhyl created a favourable impression before succumbing to a 3-1 defeat at Park Avenue in August, and having recently got the Lillywhites back within touching distance of Dafabet WPL safety, new Manager Gareth Owen will be striving for a positive result of his own. Town Supporters will have the chance to reacquaint themselves with Stephen Wright and Michael Walsh, who having left Aber Town now don the white shirts of Rhyl. Aber’s injury situation has lessened over the past week to the extent that Geoff Kellaway and Rhys Griffiths are the only concerns for Club Physio Ffiona Evans as things stand. Ross Stephens has started 299 WPL games, and Cledan Davies has 99 starts for Aber, so both Players will be passing milestones if they are selected from the start. There has been some movement in Ian Hughes’ Squad as Darren Thomas and Liam Lewis have been released to sign for other Clubs, while goalkeeper Phil Draper has moved to Caersws. The Club thanks all three Players for their efforts and wishes them well in the future. Meanwhile Jack Rimmer has signed a two year contract with the Club, and Liam Jaques has been impressing with his work ethic and attitude in training. Ian Hughes has a strong squad to choose from and his Players should be confident of getting a good result on the North Wales Coast on Friday. Hughes told atfc.org.uk this afternoon: “We’re only 3 points off third place so I expect a reaction from the Players after the last two results. We were on a good run up until last week and we plan to go on another good run from now until Christmas”. The Coach leaves Park Avenue at 3.30pm and a twilight return trip to Rhyl will cost a mere £10 for Adults and £5 Concessions. Amazing Friday night value for money! Comments are closed.
