Saturday 26th December (kick off 2.30pm)
Dafabet Welsh Premier League Haverfordwest County v Aberystwyth Town The Black and Greens return to action on Saturday to face Haverfordwest County in a Dafabet Welsh Premier League Boxing Day Derby, with Ian Hughes' men on a massive high following two excellent performances and results. The gradual return of a number of suspended, injured and ineligible Players, allied to a noticeable togetherness in the Squad helped Aber gain a 1-1 draw at TNS, and a 4-0 win at home to Bangor City on Saturday, and Lee Surman, Jamie Reed and Geoff Kellaway all had important parts to play in Saturday's win, not to mention the incomparable Chris Venables, who scored twice and was named in Sgorio's Team of the Week. Aber Supporters know that if the Black and Greens keep that run of form going, a place in the WPL Top Six is there for the taking. As Manager Ian Hughes put it “With all our players in we’ve got a hell of a team. The players we’ve got at this football club are excellent, scoring four goals and we could have scored more. We hit the bar three times and created numerous chances. That’s helped to improve our goal difference which is vital given it’s a tight league". Hughes targeted four wins from 6 games prior to Saturday's match, which means another three wins are the minimum requirement over the next 18 days. After Saturday's heroics Aber have no reason to feel anything other than confident heading into their game at Bridge Meadow against the League's bottom side, however having lost twice away to Haverfordwest already this season (3-2 in an August Pre Season friendly and 4-1 in a September Word Cup tie) there will be no danger of any complacency in the Green ranks.Town Supporters will be able to reacquaint themselves with onetime Aber players such as Jordan Follows, Craig Morris, Ryan Batley and Declan Carroll. A big result down in Pembrokeshire will build on a real sense of momentum surrounding the First Team at the moment, and your support will make it easier for them get that result. Kick off at Bridge Meadow on Saturday is at 2.30pm and the Coach will leave at 11am, at a charge of £10 for Adults and £5 Concessions. Football and Boxing Day - it's a combination which has been making people happy for over 100 years! Comments are closed.
