Aberystwyth Town are delighted to announce the retention of forward John Owen for the 2022/23 season – his 5th season overall over two spells at Park Avenue.
29-year-old Welsh-speaking John first joined Town in January 2017 from Llandudno and immediately flashed his ability to the Green Army, becoming a favourite over the following 18-months, making 41 appearances and scoring 10 goals before a further spell at Llandudno, Cefn Druids and Porthmadog. Jon re-joined the Seasiders in January 2021 and has made a further 39 appearances since, adding a further 7 goals. He was awarded Cymru Premier Player of the Month for November 2021 following two winning goals in consecutive 1-0 victories over The New Saints and Cardiff Met respectively. John told us: “Last season was the best changing room I’ve been involved in. The group had a real togetherness and belief in each other which showed during the latter part of the season. I’m confident that we can take this into the coming season and grow as a group. Having spoken with Taff and hearing his plans and ideas for myself and the club, I was delighted to sign a new contract. I’m sure no stone will be left unturned and we will be ready come the start of the new season. The supporters played a massive part last season and helped push us on in games. I hope they can do the same again and et behind the group – we look forward to seeing them again!” First Team Manager Anthony Williams commented: “I’m delighted to have John back with us next season. He has impressed me each time I have watched him play and having spoken with him recently, I have come to learn how much the club means to him personally. I’m excited to see his performances this coming season for us”. Croeso nol i John y Cigydd! / Welcome back, John The Butch! Comments are closed.
