JD Welsh Premier League
Friday 10th August (7:45p.m Kick Off)
Aberystwyth Town v Llandudno
Aberystwyth Town will begin their JD Welsh Premier League campaign under the Friday night lights as they welcome Llandudno to Park Avenue for their opening game of the new season. Aber finished one place above Iwan Williams' side in last season's league table, and the black and greens will now be looking to get off to a positive start to kick off the 2018/19 league campaign.
Aber have enjoyed a testing few weeks of pre-season, drawing with Halesowen Town and falling to narrow defeats against Telford United and Haverfordwest County before convincing away 3-0 victories at Brickfield Rangers and most recently Neston Nomads last weekend. The black and greens have seen a number of experienced Welsh Premier League players join the club during the summer - including Alan Goodall, Ryan Edwards, Wes Baynes, Paulo Mendes, Alec Williams and Rio Ahmadi. Town's supporters will now be hopeful the new arrivals can gel with last season's squad members, along with the up and coming youngsters involved in Bari Morgan's double winning squad last season, to get the team off to a winning start on Friday evening.
Friday's visitors Llandudno have also seen a number of comings and goings over the summer period, with key players such as Marc Williams and Mike Williams departing Parc Maes Du. They have, however, added experienced defenders Kai Edwards and Mike Pearson from Connah's Quay Nomads, along with former seasider John Owen. Iwan Williams' side experienced somewhat of a tumultuous pre-season, losing against Whitchurch Alport, Chester City and Wigan Athletic, whilst beating Wrexham, Prestatyn and Llangefni. They will undoubtedly have their eye on securing a top six position this season, much like Aber.
In what is sure to be an exciting opening night in the JD Welsh Premier League, kick off at Park Avenue is at 7:45p.m. Admission costs £8 for adults, £5 for concessions and £2 for u16's. Town's supporters are also reminded that season tickets are still available to purchase for a price of £95 (which brings the average price per game down to £6) and are welcomed to e-mail email@example.com for more information.
