Aberystwyth Town vs Bala Town
JD Cymru Premier Tuesday 31st August 8pm Kick-Off Antonio Corbisiero’s men return home to Park Avenue for a clash with European entrants Bala Town, having not got the points return that their efforts deserved from the last two games on the road. A valiant performance against reigning Champions Connahs Quay ten days ago was followed by Saturday's stoppage time defeat at Flint Town United, where the Seasiders looked to have secured a point, before Alex Jones’ controversial winner broke the hearts of the travelling Black & Green Army. Colin Caton’s Bala Town arrive at Park Avenue having registered three draws from their opening three games in 2021/22. An opening 2-2 draw at home to Penybont has been followed by two consecutive 0-0’s, away at Barry Town United and back at Maes Tegid on Saturday against Cardiff Met. They also represented the Cymru Premier in the new Europa Conference League, where they bowed out to Northern Irish side Larne, having been narrowly beaten 1-0 in both legs. The Lakesiders boast an impressive squad with ex-ATFC talisman and regular Cymru Premier Golden Boot Winner Chris Venables now joined by the likes of Chris Sang, Oliver Southern & Danny Walker-Rice, who joined from Wrexham, Curzon Ashton & Tranmere Rovers respectively. Their most eye-catching signing of the summer however was that of Dave Edwards – a member of the Wales’ legendary Euro 2016 squad – who joined having spent the last two & a half years back at boyhood club Shrewsbury Town. This will be the first of three consecutive home games for ATFC, as Aber Valley FC visit on Saturday in the Welsh Cup Second Round (2pm) before Cardiff Met Uni visit for a league match the following week (5.15pm). The Seasiders’ performances so far this season have been encouraging, and the vocal backing of the Black & Green Army at home over the next few weeks will only motivate the players further. Kick-off is at 8pm, with tickets priced at £7 for Adults / £4 for Concessions / Under 16’s free. Put it in your diary!
