Aberystwyth Town vs Cardiff Metropolitan University
JD Cymru Premier Saturday 11th September 5.15pm KO LIVE on Sgorio online The Seasiders return to league action on Saturday after last weekend’s exciting Welsh Cup match against Aber Valley FC. Although our visitors were on the wrong end of a 9-0 defeat (ATFC’s largest win in the Welsh Cup since 2003) their players and superb supporters were a credit to their club and all at Aberystwyth Town would like to wish them well for the rest of their season, and hope that we meet again sometime in the future! We are almost a quarter way through the first phase of league fixtures now, and although ATFC have suffered three successive narrow 1-0 defeats in the Cymru Premier, the results have not told the full story as performances have been encouraging. Cardiff Met will provide a stern test as always, and Christian Edwards’ side will arrive at Park Avenue in a confident mood as they are unbeaten in four games and progressed in the cup last weekend, dispatching Pontardawe Town away from home. Met currently sit 7th in a league table that is still taking shape; with 1 win, 2 draws and 1 defeat from their four games so far. They beat Penybont 3-2 in their last league outing following two successive 0-0 draws at Haverfordwest County & Bala Town. The return of Adam Roscrow was arguably one of the most significant moves of the summer – the prolific striker returning to the capital on loan from The New Saints having originally departed Cyncoed Campus in 2019 for AFC Wimbledon. Met’s squad also still includes stalwarts Emlyn Lewis, Chris Baker & Charlie Corsby, whilst former Aber loanee Tom Price arrived earlier this year from Swansea City. The two clubs have already met once this summer in a pre-season friendly back in July; Met taking a 2-0 victory on a day which also marked the return of supporters to Park Avenue following the relaxation of Covid restrictions. ATFC are back on the road after this game with Latham Park the venue next Friday (17th) for the much-anticipated Mid-Wales clash with Newtown! Saturday’s game will be broadcast on Sgorio’s Facebook page, but you can’t beat watching football live at Park Avenue so please come down and support the lads! Tickets are £7 for Adults / £4 for Concessions / Under 16’s free and please be aware that kick-off is at 5.15pm NOT the usual 2.30pm time.
