Aberystwyth Town vs Connahs Quay Nomads
JD Cymru Premier Friday 3rd December 8pm Kick-Off Aberystwyth Town return to action for the first time in two weeks as they welcome reigning Cymru Premier Champions Connahs Quay Nomads to Aberystwyth University Park Avenue Stadium. Antonio Corbisiero’s side come into this match on an excellent run of form, having remained unbeaten during November – drawing one and winning the last two. Goalkeeper Gregor Zabret has also recorded back-to-back clean sheets for the first time in the league this season – just reward for his consistently excellent performances since signing in August. This week’s visitors, the Nomads, had to endure a difficult start to the campaign this time around. Andy Morrison stepped down as Manager in late September, having led the club to the last two Cymru Premier Championships and the team suffered four defeats in their opening nine games. Craig Harrison was appointed as Manager shortly after Morrison’s departure and they have remained unbeaten in their last five league matches – including a three-match winning run during late October / early November. The Nomads also remain in both cup competitions, having beaten Bala Town in the Semi-Final of the Nathaniel MG Cup last weekend to set up a final against Cardiff Met, whilst also progressing to the Quarter-Finals of the Welsh Cup where they will take on Colwyn Bay in February. Whilst Connahs Quay have the joint meanest defence in the league, only conceding 9 goals, their goals return has decreased dramatically this season, from an average of 2.2 per game last season to 1.14 this time around. This could be explained by the loss of their talismanic striker Michael Wilde to Flint Town United during the summer, which has meant only Craig Curran, Callum Morris (both 3) and Aaron Edwards (2) have scored more than a single goal in the league this season. One of Curran’s three goals came in the first meeting between these two sides this season – a 1-0 win for Nomads at Deeside Stadium, despite a valiant performance from the Seasiders which saw both sides create opportunities throughout the 90 minutes. Its always a big night when the Champions are in town and with both sides in good form, this could prove to be an early Festive treat for all fans. Tickets are just £7 for Adults / £4 concessions whilst Under 16’s are free. Come and see if the Black & Greens can continue their ascent up the table! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In accordance with the FAW Return to Play Protocols for Alert Level 0 Regulations, published in August 2021, please do not enter the ground if You have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 28 days You have been or are currently a contact of a COVID-19 case or a suspected case You are currently self-isolating You are feeling unwell You have a cough, throat pain, muscle pain, unusual weakness, short of breath, chest pain, any palpitations (abnormal heart rate), diarrhoea, conjunctivitis, a loss of taste or smell or any other signs or symptoms of COVID-19 Please refer to HSE guidelines (https://www.hse.gov.uk/coronavirus/index.htm) on how you should proceed should any of these conditions apply to you If you are in any doubt please do not attend the fixture The Board of Directors, Aberystwyth Town Football Club Comments are closed.
