Aberystwyth Town vs Connahs Quay Nomads
JD Cymru Premier Friday 16th September 8pm KO After last weeks trip to Flint was postponed due to the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, ATFC are back in action this Friday and back at Aberystwyth University Park Avenue Stadium, with Connahs Quay Nomads the visitors to Ceredigion. As always, Nomads will provide stern opposition and they come into this match having put together back-to-back league victories for the first time this season in their previous two matches, against Penybont and Bala Town. They have an overall record of 3 victories and 2 defeats from their opening 5 games this season and also progressed to the 2nd round of the Nathaniel MG Cup having beaten The New Saints on penalties in Round 1. The visitors are now managed by Neil Gibson, who took over at Deeside Stadium on the eve of the new season following Craig Harrison’s departure for The New Saints. Gibson had previously served as Assistant to Andy Morrison at Nomads back in 2018 and returns to the club after a strong 18 months at Flint Town United. Another returnee from Flint Town United this summer was legendary Cymru Premier striker Michael Wilde, who has already notched two goals back on Deeside – taking him back to a familiar position as Nomads top scorer for the season so far. There will be a couple of familiar faces in the Nomads squad tomorrow night. Harry Franklin was arguably ATFC’s stand-out performer during his 18 months at Park Avenue before departing in the summer, whilst Paulo Mendes was an influential figure for two years before departing Ceredigion following the curtailment of the Covid affected 2019/20 season. Admission prices at Aberystwyth University Park Avenue Stadium this season are £8 for Adults, £5 for Concessions / Students, £2 for Secondary School age children and free entry for Primary School age children.
