Barry Town United vs Aberystwyth Town
JD Cymru Premier Saturday 6th November 2.30pm Kick-Off Aber Town are on the road again this Saturday and face a trip to Jenner Park, home of Barry Town United, as the team look to build on an encouraging display last time out against high-flying Flint Town United. Antonio Corbisiero’s men were cruelly denied a last-gasp equaliser last Friday as Steff Davies’ goal was controversially ruled out for offside. Their excellent performance in the second half however did earn the reward of warm applause from home supporters at full time and the Black & Green Army will travel south-east in an optimistic mood. Saturday’s hosts, Barry Town United, come into the match on the back of a 2-1 win away to Caernarfon Town, which was their first win in 5 league matches. They currently sit in 8th position in the league – one of 6 teams who have won 4 of their opening 11 matches. Along with Caernarfon & Haverfordwest, Barry have 14 points having drawn an additional 2 matches. Once again, the prolific Kayne McLaggon is Barry’s top goalscorer and has hit 6 goals in 10 games this season. Clayton Green has also registered 4 goals in 11 games, whilst at the other end of the pitch former Seasider Mike Lewis has kept two league clean sheets so far. The reverse fixture opened the season at Aberystwyth University Park Avenue Stadium and saw ATFC emerge victorious with a 2-1 victory thanks to a superb 90th minute free-kick from Mathew Jones. Last season’s meetings saw Barry take all three points on both occasions. The first match, at Park Avenue in October, was an eventful one, with Aber taking the lead early in the second half through Steff Davies, before Barry were reduced to ten men on the hour through the sending off of Clayton Green. Despite their numerical advantage, the visitors came back to earn a 2-1 victory thanks to goals from Kayne McLaggon and Jordan Cotterill. They would also win the return fixture at Jenner Park – Nat Jarvis’ late winner sealing a 1-0 win just after play restarted in March. Jenner Park is situated on Barry Road and the postcode for the stadium is CF62 9BG. There is no parking for visiting supporters at the stadium, but there is plenty of street parking available in the local area. A large away following is anticipated for this exciting tie as Aber look to get back to winning ways. Come on you Black & Greens! Comments are closed.
