Cefn Druids vs Aberystwyth Town
JD Cymru Premier Wednesday 13th October 7.45pm KO Live on Sgorio Facebook & YouTube! The Black & Greens travel to The Rock on Wednesday night looking to get back to winning ways following Saturday’s narrow home reverse to Caernarfon Town. Despite a dominant performance, numerous chances and three big penalty claims the equalising goal just would not come for Antonio Corbisiero’s men, as Aber went down to their fifth single goal defeat in seven Cymru Premier games. A real positive from the game was the return to action of influential defender Lee Jenkins, who was reunited with Louis Bradford at the heart of the back four – a partnership that really flourished as the season went on last year and the Black & Green Army will now be hoping for more of the same this time around! Wednesday night’s hosts have endured a difficult season so far, although their spirits will have been lifted by an excellent away performance and a share of the spoils at 2nd placed Bala Town on Saturday. Niall Flint was the man on target to give Druids their first point of the season. Flint’s goal was Druids 3rd in two games since the appointment of former Tottenham, Portsmouth & Rotherham midfielder Andy Turner as Interim Manager at the end of September. Turner had originally joined the club as Head of Coaching in the summer and moved into this additional role following the departure of Niall McGuiness on September 24th. He has already faced Aber Town during his short tenure so far, the Welsh Cup 3rd Round tie at Park Avenue on 25th September saw ATFC run out 4-1 winners thanks to an Owain Jones goal and a hat-trick from Mathew Jones. Last season, the Black & Greens recorded four victories against Druids – 4-0 and 3-0 at The Rock and 3-1 and 5-1 at Park Avenue; the 3-0 victory at The Rock in April in particular being memorable for Jamie Reed scoring his 100th Cymru Premier goal, whilst club icon Geoff Kellaway made his 350th Cymru Premier appearance. Their squad list for this year includes a number of former ATFC players. Steff Edwards has had two spells at Park Avenue, initially under Alan Morgan from 2010-11 before returning under Nev Powell in 2018 for an 18 month spell. Pavel Viera made a handful of appearances in early 2020 before Covid-19 curtailed the season, whilst George Harry did likewise at the start of the 2020/21 campaign. The Rock can be found at postcode LL14 3YG, but if you can’t make the match, Sgorio’s cameras will be broadcasting this match live on their Facebook & YouTube platforms, so be sure to tune in as the Black & Greens look to grab another victory on the road Comments are closed.
