 To all at Aberystwyth Town FC,
Since my last message to you we find ourselves in an increased time of lockdown, with almost all day to day activities on hold. As we are abiding by the Government guidance, it is very likely many people will be only seeing those who they live with and for those living alone or distant from family, this time can be incredibly lonely. One of the best things about football is that we get to take part together; watching, cheering, crying, playing. Without a doubt football is a community activity, one which allows mutual interests to talk about, celebrating in the success, commiserating in the lows and often creates lasting friendships. Friendship and connection with others is key to our wellbeing. This is something The Bible says about friendship: “Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble.” (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10). If you are feeling lonely I’m available to talk. If you need help I’m here to support. Perhaps if you aren’t feeling lonely or in need of help, then could this be an opportunity for you to support others? During this time can I encourage you to reach out to others you know, but probably haven’t seen for sometime. We can easily take for granted the chats we have before a match, the halftime cuppa or even the post game pint. In those everyday conversations we have a laugh, share a smile and are gently reminding each other none of us are alone. This is my reminder to each and everyone one of you, none of you need feel alone. My prayer for everyone connected with our club is they have someone they can reach out to, that none of us feel alone, and we help each other.
