Penybont vs Aberystwyth Town
JD Cymru Premier Friday 23rd September 7.45pm KO It’s a quick return to South Wales for ATFC tomorrow night, as the Seasiders travel to Bridgend to face Penybont, three days after Tuesday night’s thrilling Nathaniel MG Cup tie at Cardiff Met. Goals from Charley Edge and Alex Darlington had put Aber in pole position and thrilled the sizeable away following, but the Capital club struck back through Matt Chubb and Sam Jones, and then scored all five of their penalties to progress to the next round. Tomorrow night’s hosts, Penybont, also exited the competition on Tuesday night as they went down 2-1 at home to JD Cymru South outfit Ammanford AFC. They have started their league campaign strongly however and sit in joint second place in the JD Cymru Premier league table with 4 wins and 12 points from their opening 6 games. Their most recent league match saw them triumph 3-2 at Newtown on Saturday evening. Summer arrivals at the SDM Glass Stadium include experienced former Football League defender Mark Little, ex-Barry Town shot stopper Kelland Absalom and midfielder Keyon Reffell who joined from Merthyr Tydfil. There are a number of familiar faces in the Bont ranks as well, none more so than Manager Rhys Griffiths, who spent the 2015/16 at Park Avenue (scoring 7 goals in 21 appearances). He is joined by former ATFC shot stopper Alex Pennock, who swapped Ceredigion for Bridgend in the summer and by Kane Owen & Kostya Georgievsky, who both had brief spells at Park Avenue back in 2016. The SDM Glass Stadium can be found on Llangewydd Road, Bridgend and the postcode for your sat-nav is CF31 4JU. Tickets are priced at £7 for Adults, £5 for Concessions and £2 for u16s. Its time for another Friday night on the road with ATFC…! Comments are closed.
