Aber Town are back on the road again tomorrow, this time travelling south to Pembrokeshire to face UEFA Europa Conference League qualifiers Haverfordwest County. Wednesday nights victory over Bala Town at Maes Tegid, thanks to John Owen’s first half strike, has helped lift spirits at Aberystwyth University Park Avenue and there will be much optimism going into this match now, with Aber now within one victory of closing the gap on those in the immediate three positions above in the league table.
For the hosts, there was plenty of change at Ogi Bridge Meadow in the summer following their European qualification. Corey Shephard, Henry Jones, Jordan Davies and former Seasider Jamie Veale all moved on to pastures new with Kai Whitmore, Tyrese Owen, Martell Taylor-Crossdale, Luke Tabone, Rio Dyer, Kayden Williams-Lowe and Ifan Knott coming in. The Bluebirds currently sit in 10th position in the league following their 1-1 draw at Cardiff Met on Tuesday evening. They have registered 7 points from their opening 9 matches. There were four meetings between the two sides last season. In Phase 1, Aber won the first encounter 2-1, before Haverfordwest won the reverse fixture 3-1. Phase 2 saw Haverfordwest triumph 1-0 at Aberystwyth University Park Avenue in March, before a 1-1 draw at Ogi Bridge Meadow in April – a point which eventually proved crucial in retaining ATFC’s JD Cymru Premier status. As usual in the fixture, a number of the opposition will be familiar to the Green Army. Bluebirds Manager Tony Pennock had a brief spell at Park Avenue in 2017, helping to steer the club to safety during his tenure. Lee Jenkins swapped Ceredigion for Pembrokeshire in summer 2022, having come through the ranks at ATFC to go on to become a reliable member of the back four and a fan favourite, whilst Ricky Watts donned the Black & Green in the 2016/17 season. Bridge Meadow can be found by using Postcode SA61 2EX and tickets are priced at £7.50 for Adults / £5 for Concessions / Under 16’s free. All roads lead to Pembrokeshire! Comments are closed.
