The next stop on Aber Town’s 2023/24 journey is Maes Tegid, home of Bala Town, as the Seasiders travel north tonight to face Colin Caton’s Lakesiders under the lights.
Anthony Williams’ squad have had an extra day to prepare than their hosts, following Friday nights narrow defeat at home to Penybont. Bala also suffered defeat at the weekend, going down 3-1 at Barry Town United on Saturday.
It was a summer of change for tonights opposition. Talismanic ex-ATFC forward Chris Venables moved on to Penybont following six prolific years at Maes Tegid, whilst Dave Edwards and Paul Rutherford announced their retirements.
The ranks were bolstered by the addition of Aaron Edwards and Joe Malkin from Connahs Quay along with former Seasider Paulo Mendes who also made the move from Deeside. Goalkeeper Kelland Absalom also joined from Penybont.
Bala won 3 out of their opening 5 games and went unbeaten in the league until last weekend, leaving them in 6th position in the league after 8 games, with 13 points to their name.
Last season, the Lakesiders were victorious in both fixtures against ATFC; winning 4-1 at Aberystwyth University Park Avenue in September 2022 and then 3-0 at Maes Tegid in November.
