Siwrnae i Bontypridd sydd ar y gweill i Anthony Williams a'i tim, fydd yn edrych i barhau eu safonau uchel yn Ne Ddwyrain Cymru, ble maen nhw wedi ennill tri gem mas o bedwar hyd yn hyn y tymor yma. After over three weeks without a JD Cymru Premier game, Aberystwyth Town are back in action on Boxing Day. A trip to Pontypridd United awaits for Anthony Williams and his team; who will be looking to continue their excellent form in South East Wales having already won three out of four games down south this season. The enforced break from league action should mean the squad are coming back to action refreshed and reinvigorated; and a friendly victory at Newtown a couple of weeks back will have helped to boost confidence as Aber head into the final four games before the mid-season split.
Tuesday’s hosts, Pontypridd United, have endured a turbulent season so far and following a 6 point deduction they currently sit bottom of the league with 7 points. They have however won 3 games so far this season, and drawn four. There is only one ex-Seasider in their ranks; forward Owain Jones spent two seasons at Park Avenue between 2020-2022 before moving to USW Sport Park. There have already been two meetings between the two teams this season, with Pontypridd coming out on top both times thanks to two 1-0 victories; one in the JD Cymru Premier and one in the Nathaniel MG Cup. This will be Aber’s first return to USW Sport Park since last season’s unforgettable encounter when goalkeeper Matthew Turner scored a 97th minute equaliser; a goal that proved to be crucial in maintaining the Black and Greens ever present status in the Cymru Premier. The other three games between these two teams last season were also very close. Pontypridd won the first encounter last August 2-1, with Aber reversing that scoreline at Park Avenue in November. The first Phase Two match ended as a 3-3 draw at Park Avenue in February, before Turner’s magic moment came in early April. USW Sport Park can be found on the Treforest Industrial Estate and the ground’s postcode is CF37 5UP. Tickets are priced at £7 for Adults, £5 for Seniors / Students / Concessions and £2 for Under 16s and can be purchased in advance by using the following link - https://pontypriddunited.sumupstore.com/product/pufc-v-aberystwyth-town-26-12-23.
