Aberystwyth Town FC kick-off their 2023/24 JD Cymru Premier season this Saturday afternoon at Aberystwyth University Park Avenue Stadium by welcoming Cardiff Met for a 2:30pm kick-off. The teams met less than a month ago for a pre-season fixture, which saw Town come out on top by a 1-0 scoreline thanks to an audacious halfway-line chip from then-trialist Owen Taylor!
It was a heartening performance that day for the Black and Greens early in pre-season, as we later faced Bow Street FC and City of Liverpool FC before last weekend's Nathaniel MG Cup 2nd Round victory at Jenner Park -- coming from behind against Barry Town to secure a 1-2 win thanks to a dazzling cameo from Alex Darlington. The teams met three times in the regular 2022/23 season also, all before Christmas. Met were victorious in both league games and although the Nathaniel MG Cup encounter in September ended in a 2-2 draw, Met progressed on penalties. Last season was a successful one for The Archers. They comfortably secured a top six finish and eventually won exactly half of their 32 league matches, finishing 4th, and only missing out on a place in the Playoff Final on penalties to eventual winners Haverfordwest County. In their most recent match, they beat Cambrian & Clydach 3-2 with goals from Harry Owen (2) and Charlie Corsby. It's time for another go-around on the Black & Green rollercoaster! Admission prices for the season are set at £8 for adults, £5 for concessions, £2 for Secondary School age kids, and Primary School and younger are free. Gwelwn ni chi yna! // See you there!
