 Aberystwyth Town are delighted to announce the retention of their 2021/22 league top scorer Sam Phillips for the 2022/23 season!
23-year-old Sam joined Town in July 2021 with a fair amount of JD Cymru Premier experience having played for both Newtown and Cefn Druids, amassing 48 league appearances across both clubs between 2018 and 2021. A former Wolverhampton Wanderers youth player, Montgomeryshire-born Sam has also enjoyed a taste of football abroad having spent the end of the 2017/18 season with Swedish side IFK Ostersund before joining Newtown in 2018. Last season, Sam flashed his ability and an eye for goal with 5 goals and 4 assists from 17 starts, plus a further 15 appearances from the bench. A skilful and tricky winger, Sam hit form towards the end of Phase 1 with four goals in five matches, finding the net against Newtown, Haverfordwest and a brace against his previous team Druids. Sam told us: "I'm delighted to be staying at this amazing club next season. After securing our position in the league last season, it's time I personally and we as a group kick on and look to improve and reach new heights next season under the new maagement team!"
