Aberystwyth Town are delighted to announce the arrival of Centre Back Sam Barnes, who joins from Widnes FC of the Northern Premier League. 28 year old Sam began his career with Liverpool Schoolboys before joining Stockport County, and he made his debut for the Hatters in League One at the age of 18, before going on to train with Manchester United. Barnes then moved to Hednesford Town, with whom he won the Evo Stick Play Offs, before joining to Colwyn Bay where he was Club Captain for three years. he then moved to Bangor City before entering the Cymru Premier arena with Newtown, whom he helped to a Top Six finish. Sam left Newtown in January and most recently played for Widnes, before agreeing terms to join the Seasiders for the 2020/21 season. He has also played for Northwich Victoria, Marine and Glossop North End. Sam told atfc.org.uk: "I am really excited to join Aberystwyth. I came close to joining in January, so I'm glad to get it over the line, and try to help the club reach the Top 6. With the squad being built by the Management, we have every chance". Everyone at Aberystwyth Town FC welcomes Sam to Park Avenue, as Manager Gavin Allen's squad takes shape. Comments are closed.
