Back from Wales duty and on the scoresheet for the first time in a Genero Adran Premier match - it has been a big few days for Aberystwyth Town Women's young star Imi Scourfield. The 17-year-old has become a regular in Town’s side, moving into a new position of central defensive midfield, and her performances have been rewarded with a nomination for Female Achievement of the Year in the Sport Pembrokeshire Awards. Not only that, but she has received her first call-up to the Cymru Under 19s squad, making two late substitute appearances against Czechia and England. Scourfield was quick to praise her new international team-mates and the welcome they gave her, adding that the experience gave her new insight. “It was nice to learn more about my position: pressing, what to do out of possession, in possession,” she told Aber Town Women’s Steven Brookes. Yn ôl o ddyletswydd Cymru ac ar y sgoriwr am y tro cyntaf mewn gêm Uwch Gynghrair Genero Adran - mae hi wedi bod yn ychydig ddyddiau mawr i seren ifanc Merched Tref Aberystwyth, Imi Scourfield. Mae’r ferch 17 oed wedi dod yn aelod rheolaidd o dîm y Dref, gan symud i safle newydd o ganol cae amddiffynnol canolog, ac mae ei pherfformiadau wedi’u gwobrwyo ag enwebiad ar gyfer Llwyddiant Merched y Flwyddyn yng Ngwobrau Chwaraeon Sir Benfro. Nid yn unig hynny, ond mae hi wedi derbyn ei galwad cyntaf i garfan Dan 19 Cymru, gan wneud dau ymddangosiad eilydd hwyr yn erbyn Czechia a Lloegr. Roedd Scourfield yn gyflym i ganmol ei chyd-chwaraewyr rhyngwladol newydd a’r croeso a roddwyd iddi, gan ychwanegu bod y profiad wedi rhoi mewnwelediad newydd iddi. “Roedd yn braf dysgu mwy am fy safbwynt: pwyso, beth i’w wneud allan o feddiant, ym meddiant,” meddai wrth Steven Brookes o Ferched Aber Town. “It’s helping me with my awareness on the pitch, and it gives me confidence I can bring from the training camp into the Aber team.” The midfielder marked her return by scoring her first goal of the season, and described it as a “thriller moment” - but it ultimately led to disappointment. “Looking back at it now, I can see things I can improve on and things the team can improve on, ready for our next game,” she said. Despite goalscoring not being a main part of her duties, she is hopeful of increasing her tally over the course of the campaign. “Being with the [Aberystwyth Town Women] under-19s last season I was able to get on the scoresheet a few times and coming into the first team this season, my new role in the midfield three instead of a back three means I can get on the ball more, come up the pitch more and get more goal[scoring] opportunities.” She added: “We started off well this season, winning games. We’ve had a few knockbacks but it’s something we can learn from and use to improve for the future.” “Mae’n fy helpu gyda fy ymwybyddiaeth ar y cae, ac mae’n rhoi hyder i mi y gallaf ddod ag ef o’r gwersyll hyfforddi i dîm Aber.”
Nododd y chwaraewr canol cae ei dychweliad trwy sgorio ei gôl gyntaf o’r tymor, a’i disgrifio fel “foment gyffrous” – ond arweiniodd hynny at siom yn y pen draw. “Wrth edrych yn ôl arno nawr, rydw i’n gallu gweld pethau y galla’ i eu gwella a’r pethau y gall y tîm wella arnyn nhw, yn barod ar gyfer ein gêm nesaf,” meddai. Er nad yw sgorio gôl yn brif ran o'i dyletswyddau, mae'n obeithiol o gynyddu ei chyfrif yn ystod yr ymgyrch. “Gan fod gyda thîm dan-19 [Merched Tref Aberystwyth] y tymor diwethaf roeddwn i’n gallu mynd ar y sgoriwr ychydig o weithiau a dod i mewn i’r tîm cyntaf y tymor hwn, mae fy rôl newydd yng nghanol cae tri yn lle cefn tri yn golygu y gallaf gael. ar y bêl yn fwy, dewch i fyny’r cae yn fwy a chael mwy o gyfleoedd [sgorio] gôl.” Ychwanegodd: “Fe ddechreuon ni’n dda y tymor hwn, gan ennill gemau. Rydyn ni wedi cael ambell i sgil ond mae’n rhywbeth y gallwn ddysgu ohono a’i ddefnyddio i wella ar gyfer y dyfodol.” Comments are closed.
