Dafabet Welsh Premier League Friday 23rd October Aberystwyth Town v The New Saints Excitement is mounting ahead of Aber's Titanic Top Three Tussle with Dafabet Welsh Premier League Leaders The New Saints on Friday, which also showcases Park Avenue's annual Student Promotion Night. Friday night games guarantee a superb atmosphere anyway at Park Avenue, but this week's encounter will really whet the appetite for a number of different reasons. Aberystwyth University Students will be admitted for half price - a mere £2 - and Admission will include a free hot dog in the Clubhouse. A team of Cheerleaders will also encourage the team during the game, and University DIGS League Teams will be strongly represented on the night. Aber and TNS are third and top both of the WPL overall and form tables, having earned twelve and sixteen points respectively from their last six games. The Black and Greens go into the game on the back of a an excellent run of results which has featured away wins at Carmarthen, Bangor, Bala and Connah's Quay. Captain Stuart Jones is likely to start his 300th WPL Match on Friday, and with Mike Lewis recently passing the 150 appearances milestone Manager Ian Hughes was quick to praise his side's defensive resolve after last weekend's win: “The defence has been the backbone of this side over the past three or four weeks. We know that we’ve got the capability to score goals with the talent we’ve got in this side. We’ve got goals in this team but we're making sure we keep things tight at the back and the players have been working hard at that. There’s a new found mentality in our team now not concede goals and that all eleven players need to do that ” On loan players Chris Mullock and Jamie Reed will be unavailable for Aber on Friday, and with Antonio Corbisiero and Rhys Griffiths both likely to be sidelined through injury, Hughes will be looking to use his full Squad of Players for a Big Challenge against a TNS side who impressed in the UEFA Champions League Qualifiers over the summer months. Having run TNS very close over the past two years in the Welsh Cup Final and a number of League encounters, Manager Ian Hughes will feel that his side is now in a good state of mind to start converting those draws into wins, and a victory on Friday would ensure a unforgettable night's entertainment at Park Avenue. He told atfc.org.uk this week: "We fully respect the management and players of TNS and know we’re in for a tough game but we know we can do it. It was great to hear the crowd that travelled with us today getting behind us and supporting the team, especially near the end. That bit of support gives us that bit of a boost you need sometimes in games. Hopefully we can get people down, get the students in, make a bit of a noise which could help us win the game.” Kick off at Park Avenue on Friday is at 7.45pm and Admission will cost £6 for Adults, £4 Concessions, £2 for Students and £1 for Children. It's the only place to be on Friday the 23rd!! Comments are closed.
