One of Aberystwyth Town Women's young stars has spent the close season swapping her football boots for dancing shoes - and being crowned world champion. Imi Scourfield, who will be 17 next month, won the Novice Solo category for under-18s at the United Dance Organisation's World Championships in Blackpool. Mae un o sêr ifanc Merched Tref Aberystwyth wedi treulio’r tymor caeedig yn cyfnewid ei hesgidiau pêl-droed am esgidiau dawnsio – ac yn cael ei choroni’n bencampwr y byd. Enillodd Imi Scourfield, a fydd yn 17 y mis nesaf, y categori Unawd Nofis i’r rhai dan 18 oed ym Mhencampwriaethau Byd y Sefydliadau Dawns Unedig yn Blackpool ym mis Awst. "I entered the competition with confidence, but also with nerves as there is so much outstanding talent shown throughout the four days," said Scourfield. "When I found out I had won, I was utterly shocked and it felt like I was dreaming - but it was a dream come true." Scourfield began dancing when she was four years old, and football when she was eight. She now attends Ysgol Greenhill School, Tenby, where she is in year 12 and studying PE, IT and Chemistry - and she makes the journey up to Aberystwyth for training and matches. "I am able to balance my football and dance well and being able to do that is really good," she added - although she admitted that picking up the odd knock in football does affect her dancing. Her biggest dream now is to become a professional footballer, which she describes as "my ambition since the day I fell in love with football". Aberystwyth Town Women begin their season in the Genero Adran Premier against Barry Town United at Park Avenue, Aberystwyth, on Sunday 17th September, kick-off 2pm. “Fe wnes i gystadlu yn y gystadleuaeth yn hyderus, ond hefyd gyda nerfau gan fod cymaint o dalent rhagorol yn cael ei ddangos trwy gydol y pedwar diwrnod,” meddai Scourfield.
"Pan wnes i ddarganfod fy mod i wedi ennill, ges i sioc llwyr ac roedd yn teimlo fel fy mod i'n breuddwydio - ond gwireddu breuddwyd oedd hi." Dechreuodd Scourfield ddawnsio pan oedd yn bedair oed, a phêl-droed pan oedd yn wyth oed. Mae Scourfield yn mynychu Ysgol Greenhill, Dinbych-y-pysgod, lle mae hi ym mlwyddyn 12 ac yn astudio Addysg Gorfforol, TG a Chemeg - ac mae'n gwneud y daith i fyny i Aberystwyth ar gyfer hyfforddiant a gemau. “Rwy’n gallu cydbwyso fy mhêl-droed a dawnsio’n dda ac mae gallu gwneud hynny’n dda iawn,” ychwanegodd - er iddi gyfaddef bod codi ambell i gnoc mewn pêl-droed yn effeithio ar ei dawnsio. Ei huchelgais mwyaf yw dod yn bêl-droediwr proffesiynol, y mae'n ei ddisgrifio fel "fy uchelgais ers y diwrnod y cwympais mewn cariad â phêl-droed." Mae Merched Tref Aberystwyth yn dechrau eu tymor yn y Premier Adran Genero yn erbyn Barry Town United ar Goedlan y Parc, Aberystwyth, ddydd Sul 17eg Medi, cic gyntaf 2pm. Comments are closed.
