![]() Dafabet Welsh Premier League Saturday 10th October (ko 2.30pm) Newtown v Aberystwyth Town No sooner had the final whistle gone on Aberystwyth Town's vital win at Bala on Tuesday night, than news came through that the Black and Greens' next opponents Newtown, had themselves earned an excellent 4-1 win at Airbus, which hosted them into the runners up position. Visiting the second placed sides in the WPL twice in four days is some task at the back end of a run of 7 games in 21 days, but after Tuesday's terrific win inflicted a first League defeat of the season on the Lakesiders, Ian Hughes' in-form squad must be starting to believe that anything is possible. Eleven points from a possible fifteen, three away wins in a row, and four goals conceded in 5 games are the stats underlying this resurgence, and the individual form of key players such as Lee Surman, Craig Williams, Luke Sherbon, Darren Thomas and Stuart Jones has improved throughout the season. The Players will certainly need to be back at their best on Saturday to get a result at Paveways Latham Park, and they may feel that they owe Newtown one after the Robins' dramatic Play Off win at Park Avenue last May. Club Captain Stuart Jones will make his 100th appearance in Black and Green on Saturday, and his 298th overall WPL appearance, and the fact that all of these appearances were starts, with no sub appearances, shows the high regard in which his Managers have held him. Everyone at the Club looks forward to congratulating Stuart on a great achievement come Saturday afternoon. The Coach to Newtown will leave Park Avenue at 11.30am, and a return trip will cost £10 for Adults and £5 Concessions. Don't Be Left Behind! Comments are closed.
