Tuesday 22nd December (kick off 7.45pm)
Dafabet Welsh Premier League Aberystwyth Town v Carmarthen Town The Black and Greens return to Park Avenue tomorrow to face neighbours Carmarthen Town in the Dafabet Welsh Premier League, with Ian Hughes' men are on a massive high following two excellent performances and results over the past ten days. The gradual return of a number of suspended, injured and ineligible Players, allied to a noticeable togetherness in the Squad, has helped Aber gain a 1-1 draw at TNS, and a 4-0 win at home to Bangor City on Saturday, and Lee Surman, Jamie Reed and Geoff Kellaway all had important parts to play in Saturday's win, not to mention the incomparable Chris Venables, who scored twice and was named in Sgorio's Team of the Week. Aber Supporters know that if the Black and Greens keep that run of form going, a place in the WPL Top Six is there for the taking. As Manager Ian Hughes put it “With all our players in we’ve got a hell of a team. The players we’ve got at this football club are excellent, scoring four goals and we could have scored more. We hit the bar three times and created numerous chances. That’s helped to improve our goal difference which is vital given it’s a tight league". Visitors Carmarthen Town were right in the hunt for a Top Six spot themselves, but a 4-1 defeat at Newtown on Saturday has damaged those prospects. However Dyfed derbies between the sides are known to be open and free scoring affairs, and the Black and Greens have never yet had an easy game against the Orangemen. Ian Hughes told atfc.org.uk: "We know it’s going to be a tough game, they’re a very good side with some very good players. But things are starting to click for us now. We’re getting stronger, we’ve got players rediscovering form, players coming back from injury so we’ll be confident going into the game and hopefully the fans will come down to support us again like they did on Saturday.” Kick off at Park Avenue on Friday is at 7.45pm and Admission will cost £6 for Adults, £4 Concessions and £1 for Children. Terrific Tuesdays: it's an Aber thing. Please note: due to the inclement weather forecast for Ceredigion tomorrow a pitch inspection is planned for 3.30pm. Should the game be postponed the Club will immediately inform its supporters via its Facebook and Twitter accounts, which can be accessed directly from this page. Comments are closed.
