Aberystwyth Town can confirm two more signings to bolster their First Team Squad as they prepare for the Welsh Premier League 2017/8 season: defender James Etherington and Goalkeeper Scott Coughlan. 25 year old James (see photo, left) is originally from Maidstone in Kent. He started his Career at Grimsby Town where he was a Pro until the age of 20, after which he moved on to Whitstable Town, Ramsgarte and Faversham Town. He then joined Wrexham for a second chance to get back into professional football and has enrolled as a BSc (Hons) Sports Coaching for Participation and Performance development student at Wrexham Glyndwr University. Etherington, who can play right back or Centre Half is a younger cousin of retired Premier League midfielder Matthew Etherington. 18 year old Scott is a Wales Under 19s goalkeeper from the Swansea area who was with Cardiff City until June 2017. He spent a period on loan with Hull City's Under 23 side last season, has also represented Wales at under-17 level, and was described by Cardiff's City website as a well-rounded, confident young goalkeeper with sound handling skills and good decision-making skills under pressure whose distribution is considered to be of out-field quality and communicates positively with the team. Three years ago Scott kept goal for the Wales Under 16s side which won the Victory Shield for the first time in 66 years 2014 (see photo, right), alongside Ben Woodburn of Liverpool and Ethan Amapdu, who has recently joined Chelsea from Exeter City. Assistant Manager Wayne Jones signed both Players at the second pre-season training session last night and everyone at the Club welcomes them to Park Avenue. Comments are closed.
