Aberystwyth Town supporters will be delighted to hear that their Number One Number Ten Chris Venables returns from suspension to the Black and Greens' squad for Saturday's vital Corbettsports Welsh Premier League game at Newtown.
Chris told atfc.org.uk this evening: "I can't wait to get back into it, I'm fit and ready, and raring to go. The break has been frustrating but it may turn out to be a blessing in disguise, as we had a busy summer with not much of a rest. Now I've had a few weeks off and I'm ready to go. It's a crucial game for us on Saturday and it's nice for me to come back for a game at my most local team, Newtown. I've got great memories of our Welsh Cup Semi Final up there this time last year, so it's all set up nicely for a big local derby." Chris has been a huge influence on Aber's best season in years, scoring an amazing 25 goals from 22 starts in attacking midfield, and he remains nine goals ahead of his nearest rival for the Golden Boot of 2014/5. He also earned worldwide recognition for his scoring exploits in the Calendar year of 2014 since the turn of the year. Manager Ian Hughes commented: "Though we've got goals going throughout the team, he'll be back on Saturday and of course it's a major boost. Chris gives us that edge, that winning mentality. He can influence players around him, and he's a leader on the pitch, which is what we need." Saturday's game at Paveways Latham Park kicks off at 2.30pm, and the Supporters Coach leaves Park Avenue at 11.45am. A full match preview will follow tomorrow. Comments are closed.
